Job summary

Are you a compassionate and experienced nurse ready to lead and coordinate high-quality palliative care services for children and young people? Join our dedicated team at East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH) as a Care Manager at the Nook hospice.

As a Care Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day coordination and delivery of outstanding palliative care services. Working alongside another Care Manager and reporting to the Service Manager, you will lead a team of Team Leaders and care professionals to ensure the highest standards of care and support for children, young people, and their families.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the delivery of care services and manage daily operations.
  • Lead and support Team Leaders and care coordination teams.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards and contribute to service development.
  • Manage rotas, on-call arrangements, and resource allocation.
  • Support recruitment, induction, and staff development.
  • Collaborate with external partners and represent EACH at key meetings.
  • Participate in quality assurance, audits, and safeguarding processes

Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Nurse (Child) or other Registered Nurse qualification with experience of supporting children/ young people
  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or diploma or other professional training relevant to childrens palliative care.
Skills and abilities Essential
  • Evidence of a proactive approach to the care delivery process
  • Skilled in leading and supporting teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately to diverse audiences, including families, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Ability to reflect on practice and propose changes.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to act independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions independently or collaboratively.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build positive working relationships, contribute to shared goals, and support colleagues across disciplines.

Experience Essential
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and the ability to ensure that practice is clinically effective
  • Knowledge of the law and regulatory requirements which underpin best practice in safeguarding children.
  • IT literate using the MS Office package (including regular use of word processing, spreadsheets, E-Mail and PowerPoint).
  • Experience as a band 6 nurse or above
  • Experience of working with children/ young people
  • Demonstrated experience of managing a professional multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of leadership skills, motivation and development of people
  • Experience of managing safeguarding issues
Other requirements Essential
  • Current full, valid driving license.
  • Own transport (EACH has a small pool of cars which can be used when available).
  • Evidence of commitment to own continuing professional development
