Job description
Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team who will contribute to bespoke assessment and intervention plans for the adults we support. This is a wide and varied role ideal for those looking for a new challenge where you can truly have an impact on shaping services and driving change. Care First aims to improve the quality of life for adults with learning difficulties/disabilities, autism and mental health difficulties. Our service offers support through both practical and vocational training. The post is located within Care First – Pheasey, Walsall area.

Responsibilities
  • Join a new clinical MDT that includes Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy to facilitate multidisciplinary working.
  • Develop and deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for adults supported by the service.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of an enhanced psychological therapy offer, supporting apprentices, students and therapy assistants.
  • Work within the service policies, MDT, and Clinical Governance structures to support future development and ensure quality assurance.
  • Help create empowering environments where adults flourish and can live with greater independence.
  • Support CPD goals through the group’s framework, including access to supervision and training opportunities.
Essential Criteria / Qualifications
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Doctoral level degree in Clinical/Counselling/Forensic/Educational Psychology (or equivalent if qualified prior to the introduction of the Doctorate).
  • Relevant experience in related settings or with the relevant client group.
  • Experience of effective multidisciplinary working and communicating with families/relatives and carers.
  • Experience of working across different organisational systems (service development, group and individual levels).
  • Experience using the assess–plan–do–review model and using consultation as a service delivery method.
  • Competence in core areas of psychological practice and knowledge of trauma-informed practice and neuro-diversity.
  • Ability to develop formulations to inform clinical intervention plans and recommendations for others.
  • Ability to deliver training to different cohorts and to write coherent clinical records, reports and intervention plans.
  • Excellent communication skills for complex matters; effective IT skills or aptitude to learn them.
  • Ability to work with a range of professionals and demonstrate CPD evidence and independent clinical decision-making when necessary.
  • Excellent time management, organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple demands.
  • Willingness to travel on company business and to work within the group’s safeguarding framework.
  • Experience of working with client groups such as neuro-diverse individuals or those with social, emotional and mental health needs, and experience providing supervision to others.
