Job summary

Hill Care Ltd is looking for a dedicated kitchen operative in Manchester to organise and control efficient, budget-conscious food production while upholding high cleanliness standards in line with EHO regulations.

Role requires City & Guilds 706-1 & 2 or equivalent, and a Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate. You’ll prepare meals, handle dietary needs, manage menus with the Home Manager, and supervise kitchen staff.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706-1 & 2 (or equivalent) either achieved or working towards.
• Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate is required.
• Good communication skills and team player mindset.
• Ability to work on own initiative and maintain standards.
• Satisfactory Police Check and POVA List check where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals as required.
• Accommodate special dietary needs and client preferences.
• Liaise with the Home Manager to plan menus and costings.
• Arrange and participate in staff and client meetings as required.
• Maintain accurate records of food supplies and temperatures.
• Ensure stock rotation, order deliveries, and value stock as needed.
• Prepare staff rota for the kitchen and assist in recruitment.
• Supervise kitchen staff and provide hygiene training.
• Attend mandatory training days, on or off site.
• Ensure health and safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.
• Keep equipment clean, report faults, and promote safe working practices.
• Adhere to company policies and maintain confidentiality.
• Notify absence in a timely manner and ensure security of the care centre.
• Carry out any other reasonably assigned tasks.
