Job summary

ALLIED CARE LIMITED is seeking a Care Home Maintenance Operative to support our homes in Bognor Regis, Worthing and New Milton. You'll perform general maintenance tasks, liaise with Home Managers and plan tasks to keep premises safe and well-maintained for residents.

You'll join a friendly team with training from day one, regular supervision, and opportunities to develop skills across plumbing, electrical work and interior upkeep, with some budget oversight and routine checks.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance within social care or health care setting.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Plumbing or maintenance qualification preferred.
• Able to work with Home Manager to prioritise tasks.
• Budget awareness and ability to record expenditure.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with home manager to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks.
• General care home maintenance (moving furniture, mowing, clearing drains, painting, hanging pictures).
• Mend leaks, change taps, and perform basic fixes.
• Check ventilation units and lighting; replace bulbs/diffusers.
• Record keeping and report issues; support small maintenance budget.

The role of the general maintenance operative is to ensure that the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard. As our Maintenance operative, you’ll be a valuable member of our staff, promoting the well-being of our service users and the successful running of our care home.

This role covers our services in Bognor Regis, Worthing and New Forest Area

The ideal candidate will have maintenance experience in a social care and health care setting, and have good literacy and numeracy skills. A qualification in one aspect of maintenance (e.g., plumbing), would be preferred, but not essential as full training given. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of all aspects of household maintenance, and be able to identify when an outside contractor is required and advise accordingly.You will be working jointly with the Home Managers to ensure that our homes are maintained to the highest of standards. Your responsibilities will include -Liaise with home manager to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks.General care home maintenance (moving of furniture, mowing/weeding, clearing drains and soil pipes, painting and decorating, and hanging pictures. Mending leaks. Changing taps. Includes ladder work.Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs/diffusersLiaise with Home Manager or delegated Staff Member regarding maintenance work to be carried outEnsure all equipment used by the maintenance operative is clean and well maintainedChecking control panels and electrical wiring to identify issuesPerform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.Install appliances and equipmentCheck functionality of safety systemsInspect and troubleshoot equipment and systemsRecord keeping for tasks identified and completedManage a small maintenance budget and keep records of expenditureThe above list is not exhaustive
