Job summary

New Way Recruitment is seeking a diligent Care Home Maintenance Officer to support the upkeep of a residential care service in Mossley Hill, United Kingdom. The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming environment for residents, with practical duties spanning plumbing, electrical, decorating and general handyman tasks.

You will perform routine maintenance, liaise with contractors and maintain records, contributing directly to residents' wellbeing and quality of life in a supportive care

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities management or handyman roles.
• Practical skills across general repairs, building maintenance and property upkeep.
• Understanding of health and safety practices and safe working methods.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and general upkeep across the care home.
• Undertake basic plumbing, electrical, decorating, carpentry and general handyman duties within competency.
• Complete regular building inspections, identifying maintenance issues and potential hazards.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, prioritising safety and resident comfort.
• Maintain outdoor areas, gardens, pathways and communal spaces.
• Ensure equipment, fixtures and fittings remain safe, functional and presentable.
• Liaise with external contractors and oversee maintenance works where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, schedules and compliance documentation.
• Support health and safety, fire safety and environmental standards.
• Work collaboratively with the care team, respecting residents' privacy, dignity and routines at all times.
