Job summary

Thomas Knight Care Home in Blyth, part of the Distinguished Care Group, is seeking a General Assistant to support domestic and kitchen teams. You will help maintain clean, welcoming spaces and provide nutritious meals to residents in a caring, respectful environment.

Previous experience in cleaning or catering is welcomed but not essential; full training will be provided. This full-time role offers opportunities for progression within the group and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Friendly, caring and approachable.

• Previous experience in domestic cleaning, catering or hospitality is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment throughout the home.
• Clean residents’ bedrooms, communal areas, bathrooms and offices to a high standard.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and report any maintenance concerns.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and personal belongings while carrying out cleaning duties.
• Support the Chef with the preparation and serving of meals.
• Prepare dining rooms so they are welcoming and ready for residents.
• Serve meals and drinks in a friendly, respectful and professional manner.
• Assist with washing up and maintaining a clean, hygienic kitchen environment.
• Follow all food hygiene, health and safety procedures.
