Job summary

Serencroft Care Homes is seeking a Domestic Assistant at Woodlands Care Home in Stockport to maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards across bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas.

You will perform daily cleaning and laundry duties, follow COSHH procedures, and support the wider care team to keep residents safe and comfortable. DBS checks and right to work in the UK are valued, with a supportive, values-led environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in cleaning/housekeeping or domestic role is desirable but not essential.
• Methodical approach with attention to detail and hygiene awareness.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS check.
• Good communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude.
• Experience within a care home or healthcare environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Respond promptly to spillages and other cleaning needs as they arise.
• Undertake laundry duties, including washing, drying, ironing and appropriate storage of linen and residents' clothing.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures and the safe use of cleaning chemicals (COSHH) at all times.
• Maintain accurate cleaning schedules and records in line with home procedures.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are stored and used safely.
• Report any maintenance issues or hazards identified while carrying out cleaning duties.
• Support the wider care team in maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents.
• Assist with the appropriate disposal of waste, including clinical waste, in line with home policy.
