Job description

Hampshire County Council are currently recruiting for a Chef based in the Hampshire area for their care home in Sarisbury Green.

Your duties will include:

  • Plan, prepare and cook a variety of meals which will be Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health and Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Ensure sufficient food stocks are ordered and received from approved suppliers and that stock rotation is taking place to maintain optimum freshness.
  • Supervise and instruct catering staff in the use of all equipment and hygiene procedures, giving help and guidance where appropriate.
  • Responsible for all kitchen equipment ensuring it is in full, safe working order, reporting any damage or faults to the Maintenance Person or Registered/Unit manager and following up any appropriate action.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Basic food hygiene certificate.
  • Clear understanding of Health and Safety issues.
  • Able to complete written records such as record books, accident/incident report sheets, etc.
  • Able to work as part of a team and use initiative to deal with problems in a practical way and respond appropriately where additional help is required or in an emergency situation.
  • Able to communicate clearly and appropriately with others.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities issues as they apply in the workplace and challenge attitudes and practices which are discriminatory.
