Job Role: Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant

The Support Worker / Healthcare Assistant will be expected to help and assist the team with daily routines including personal care and feeding.

The Healthcare Assistants / Support Workers must have at least 6 months of experience in care and demonstrate compassion.

Healthcare Assistants / Support Workers help with the day-to-day care of patients, either in homes, hospitals, or in patients’ own homes.

They are vital members of teams in hospitals, homes, and clinics.

Previous experience and/or qualifications in care are essential.

As a Healthcare Assistant and Support Worker, you would work under nursing staff supervision alongside other Healthcare Assistants.

Your duties could include:

  • Helping patients with washing, showering, or dressing
  • Assisting with eating and serving food
  • Making and changing beds
  • Turning bed-confined patients to prevent pressure sores
  • Talking to patients to reduce anxiety
  • Helping patients move around
  • Assisting with toileting and collecting bedpans
  • Keeping wards or homes tidy
  • Managing supplies and equipment

Your daily work may involve using mobility aids and escorting patients within facilities. With experience, you might participate in training new healthcare assistants.
