Purpose of the Position
- Support the person in charge and their assistant in all aspects of the home’s management, including taking temporary complete charge during their absence.
- Help train junior staff members in all aspects of their work in the home.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the efficient running of the home and foster a positive atmosphere.
- Assist care users with dressing, undressing, bathing, and toileting.
- Manage medication administration and records, provided trained and qualified to do so (minimum NVQ Level 3 required).
- Ensure resources are managed effectively.
- Communicate effectively with all parties.
- Maintain a team ethos within the home.
- Greet visitors and show prospective care users and families the home's facilities as required.
- Assist care users with mobility issues and physical disabilities, including incontinence; help with aids and personal equipment.
- Promote mental and physical activities for care users through conversations, outings, and activities like reading, hobbies, and recreation.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as making beds, tidying rooms, and light cleaning.
- Prepare and serve light meals, assist during meal times, and wash utensils.
- Respond to emergency alarms, doorbells, and telephone calls; greet visitors.
- Record reports in case notes accurately.
- Act as a Senior Key Worker, developing and updating care plans according to residents' needs and wishes.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary teams as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and training activities.
- Engage in professional development through mandatory training and e-learning courses.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Social Care Workers.
- Uphold residents' rights, dignity, and promote equality and diversity with a person-centered approach.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of service users at all times.
- Follow health and safety policies, including COSHH regulations.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required.
