Care Assistant for an Autistic Man in His 30s in the DH8 Area - £13.00 per Hour

We are seeking a Care Assistant to support an autistic man in his 30s with mild learning disabilities, living in Castleside, Consett. The role involves assisting for approximately 4 hours on one evening per week and up to 6 hours on a Saturday. Hours can be split based on your availability. The rate is £13.00 per hour, with potential additional hours for covering holidays and sickness.
The successful candidate will support this individual in accessing community and social activities such as visiting the library, shopping outlets, and peer groups. Interests include animation, drama, 60’s music, and steam trains. Experience or understanding of autism is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided to ensure the individual feels comfortable with you.
Occasionally, the role may include providing a sit-in service, which might involve preparing a light meal.
Candidates must be drivers with a clean license and have access to a car. A DBS check will be required, which will be paid for by the employer.
