Job Role: Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant

The Support Worker / Healthcare Assistant will help and assist the team with daily routines, including personal care and feeding. Candidates must have at least 6 months of care experience and demonstrate compassion.

Healthcare Assistants / Support Workers are vital members of teams in hospitals, care homes, and clinics. If you enjoy caring for people and making a positive difference, this could be the right job for you.

As a Healthcare Assistant/support worker, you will work under the supervision of nursing staff and collaborate with other healthcare assistants. Your duties may include:

• Helping patients with washing, showering, or dressing
• Assisting with feeding
• Making and changing beds
• Turning patients to prevent pressure sores
• Talking to patients to reduce anxiety
• Helping patients move around
• Assisting with toileting and collecting bedpans
• Maintaining cleanliness of wards or homes
• Managing supplies and equipment

Your daily tasks may involve using mobility aids and escorting patients within hospitals. With experience, you may participate in training new healthcare assistants.
