Job summary

Amathea care home in Workington is seeking a Night Care Assistant to join the team on a maternity cover basis. You will provide personal and social care to residents with respect for dignity and promote well-being and independence under MHA values.

You will act as a keyworker, assist in developing care plans (including dementia care), and ensure safeguarding, infection control and safety. Work includes weekends and 38.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Respect and sensitivity for older people.
  • Willingness to be trained (Level 1 or 2 in social care encouraged).
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Caring, patient and empathetic demeanor.
  • Previous care experience desirable.
  • Willing to work a rota including weekends.

About the role

As a Care Assistant, you will provide personal and social care to residents in a way that respects their dignity and promotes well-being and independence. You will help maintain an atmosphere and practice of care that reflects MHA’s values of mutual respect and concern for the individual.

What you will do
  • Act as a keyworker for a group of residents and support admissions
  • Participate in developing and reviewing individual care plans, including those for residents with dementia
  • Provide personal and social care in line with care plans, enhancing residents’ physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, infection control, and health & safety practices.
About you

You will bring:

  • Respect and sensitivity for older people
  • A willingness to be trained and developed (Level 1 or 2 in social care is encouraged)
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A caring nature with patience and empathy
  • Previous care experience is desirable, though not essential
