Job summary

Proud to Care Devon is seeking dedicated night care staff for Hatherleigh Nursing Home near Okehampton to support residents through the night with personal care and companionship. You'll work 12-hour night shifts, help with bedtime routines, record night notes in the electronic care system, and set up breakfasting areas to make the home feel like a comforting home from home.

Job description

The Role

The night team plays an important part in supporting people through the night. For some, the night can be the most unsettled time – waking, disorientation, needing reassurance and being there when it matters.

Hatherleigh Nursing Home doesn’t have set bedtimes, were not an institute, we are a home, so some residents, who we call family members, may want support going to bed early, while others may choose to stay up watching TV or doing something that they’ve always done at home.

The same applies to mealtimes. Although dinner is served around the same time each day, some may prefer to eat later in the evening or during the night.

This means being there to offer compassionate support throughout the night, including personal care, as and when it’s needed.

Writing up care notes on the electronic care planning system is an important part of the role, requiring attention to detail to accurately record each person’s night.

Towards the end of the shift, you’ll help prepare for the morning by setting tables for breakfast and making sure the home feels like a comforting home from home.

The Role

Hatherleigh Nursing Home in the village of Hatherleigh near Okehampton provides residential, nursing, dementia and complex care in a homely setting, where the home strives towards a continuation of life, shaped around each person and what matters to them, across three households, each supporting people with similar needs.
