Main duties of the job

As a Care Assistant, your responsibilities will include assisting residents in their personal hygiene care, recognizing and understanding clinical risk areas, acting courteously towards residents and their visitors, and practicing safe systems of work. While experience is not required, Avery Healthcare offers a thorough induction and training program to ensure confidence within the role.

Job responsibilities

Your focus as Care Assistant will be to deliver high standards of personal care, contributing fully to the care team to ensure continuity of services to residents.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents in all their personal hygiene care, ensuring optimum independence, dignity, and respect of individuals at all times.
  • Recognizing and understanding clinical risk areas in residents, such as weight loss, pressure sores, risk of falls, signs of infections, and escalating any identified risks in a timely manner.
  • Acting courteously towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
  • Practicing safe systems of work across the range of tasks.

Their ideal candidate must:

  • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Be an efficient worker who can carry reasonable instructions from other team members.
  • Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

  • A DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
