Job Description:

We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for a 7-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism, with delayed social development. Your role will be to enable him to access the community safely, participate in activities he enjoys, and have time away from his family. Support will mainly be community-based, with some time at home.

The boy is energetic, enjoys social interactions, and requires constant supervision for safety, especially outdoors, as he often runs off and lacks danger awareness. You should be comfortable supporting with challenging behaviors, such as throwing and hitting, and be aware of safe restraint techniques, with training provided if needed.

Activities include visits to soft play, bowling, walks, and parks. The role involves physical activity, so good health and the ability to support with lifting and physical engagement are essential. Experience supporting children with ASD/Autism/ADHD is preferred, along with the ability to set boundaries and be firm when necessary.

The candidate should be fun, outgoing, confident, and capable of discipline. Personal care tasks like toileting, cleaning, and handwashing are part of the role. Owning a vehicle with business insurance is advantageous, with mileage reimbursed. Proactivity in suggesting community activities is encouraged.
