Job Description:

Job Reference: (2a22e) To provide support for a 10-year-old male child with severe learning disabilities and depletion on the 19th Chromosome, which causes learning difficulties and communication problems, affecting his development and understanding. He also has poor fine and gross motor control.

Main Duties: We are looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this child to access social and leisure activities in the local community. Due to his learning disabilities and rural location, engaging with peers outside of school is challenging. The support worker will help him enjoy activities such as swimming, soft play, role play, trampolining, clip and climb, and bus travel. He wishes to join nearby social groups to make friends.

Hours: 7 hours per week during term time and 10 hours during school holidays. Hours include travel time from home. Flexibility regarding days is preferred and can be discussed.

Pay: £13.09/hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks/year (pro-rata). Out-of-pocket expenses paid by employer.

Person Specification: The applicant must:

  • Have experience and positive understanding of children with disabilities
  • Be genuinely interested in working with children with complex needs
  • Be proactive, punctual, reliable, flexible, positive, and caring
  • Respect confidentiality

Additional requirements: Driving license and insurance for business use are essential. The candidate will need an Enhanced DBS check, paid for by the employer.
