Overview

We are looking for two committed, kind and caring support workers to provide enabling support to a 13-year-old boy who lives in the Prudhoe area. The support is to enable the young man to have time away from his parents whilst access appropriate and engaging activities in the community. The young man has a happy, lively personality. He loves trains, airplanes and other vehicles and would like somebody who can access these interests with him. Having a persuasive nature would be beneficial as he can sometimes be a little set in his ways.

Ideal applicant
  • Physically fit and keen to be active outdoors
  • Calm-natured individual with chatty personality
  • A car driver with access to their own vehicle – essential due to location
  • Willing to get involved with activities and join in with the young man

The individual has no awareness of risk or danger, and the successful applicant will be required to always ensure his safety.

Hours - To be shared between two workers -

  • 5 hours per week during term time – to be used in a block on a weekend
  • 10 hours per week during school holidays – flexibility on days/support times required
  • Annual leave entitlement 5.6 weeks pro rata per year

The successful applicant will require a full enhanced disclosure and barring service certificate to work with the children’s workforce prior to commencing employment. The full cost of this will be met by the employer. Where applicable training will be provided by Northumberland County Council's learning together platform as well as on-the-job training.
