Job summary

Stonehaven Healthcare Ltd in Tavistock is recruiting a Care Assistant to join our friendly home for 36 hours per week. You will support residents with daily living activities, follow care plans and work as part of a compassionate team.

The role involves assisting with dressing, meals, mobility and social activities, in a person-centred approach with dignity and respect. Flexible shifts available within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Good communication skills with a professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents
• Compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine interest in improving the lives of older or vulnerable people
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and carry out manual handling and cleaning tasks
• A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to changing needs

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a person-centred care approach for all service users.
• Promote and maintain the needs of each service user as set out in their care plan.
• Take part in the review or update of service user care plans and risk assessments if required.
• Follow company policies, procedures and safe working practices.
• Assist residents with dressing, bathing and toileting.
• Help residents with mobility and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; manage aids and equipment.
• Care for residents who are temporarily sick and needing minor dressings or bed nursing.
• Support residents who are dying.
• Promote mental and physical activity through conversation and activities.
• Make and change beds; tidy rooms and keep areas clean.
• Inspect, launder and mend residents' clothing.
• Set tables and trays; serve meals; assist feeding; prepare light meals; wash up; tidy dining area.
• Answer emergency bells, door and phone; greet visitors.
• Read and write reports; participate in care team and residents' meetings and training.
• Other duties as reasonably required.

Care Assistant - Chollacott House: Our lovely home in Tavistock, is looking for a Care Assistant for 36 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• To promote and maintain a person centered care approach to all service users that allows them to
• To promote and maintain the needs of each service user as set out in their care plan
• To take part in the review or update of any service user care plans and risk assessments if required
• To have a good working knowledge of the companies policies, procedures and safe working practices and follow them accordingly
• Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting.
• Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in the use aids, care of aids and personal equipment.
• Care for residents temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing.
• Help care for residents who are dying.
• Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation.
• Make and change beds; tidy rooms and keep everything clean
• Inspect, lauran and mend residents' clothing.
• Set tables and trays; serve meals; feed residents who need help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clean the dining room.
• Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors.
• Read and write reports; take part in care team and residents' meetings and in training activities as directed.
• Such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Person Specification - Skills And Qualifications

Rate of pay: £13.17 - £13.42 per hour.
