A local authority in Scotland seeks a support worker for adults with learning disabilities. This role includes varied shifts and requires registration with the Scottish Social Services Council. Ideal candidates will demonstrate communication and organisational skills while providing personal care and support in community settings. Additional training will be provided.

The Person
Must have or be willing to achieve in the first period of registration the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 5 (equivalent to SVQ2) or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration.
Communication skills, organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise workload, ability to work with minimal supervision, team working skills, literacy skills, basic IT skills.
Ability to provide support to individuals with personal care needs, medication administration, budgeting, cooking, and cleaning, moving & handling, and ability to undertake physical tasks. Being able to comfortably kneel on beds and floors and to rise without difficulty.
You are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
