Healthcare Ireland Group, Longfield Care Home in Eglinton, near Derry, is seeking a Care Assistant. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents and support daily living activities in a welcoming, award-winning environment.

You will also offer emotional support, promote independence and assist the nursing team, ensuring comfort, safety and dignity for residents. The role emphasizes compassionate care and resident advocacy.

The Home

Located on the outskirts of the village of Eglinton and just ten miles from the city of Derry, Longfield Care Home offers a welcoming environment with specialised care for residents across two units. We support 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle and Faughan Units, alongside 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite.

The Role

You will pride yourself on providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of residents. As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
• Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
• Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
• Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
• Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.
