Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking compassionate Care Workers to join a specialist residential school in the Andover area. The role is long-term with potential to become permanent, starting September 2026, and involves supporting students with a range of needs in a structured, therapeutic environment.

You will collaborate with teachers, residential staff and therapists to provide daily, student-centred care, helping pupils access learning and life skills while fostering safety and emotional well-being.

Qualifications

  • Patience and empathy to work with children and young people with additional needs.
  • Experience in education or care settings is desirable.
  • First Aid training is beneficial and essential in rural settings.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people with additional needs in daily routines and learning.
  • Encourage independence, self-esteem and social interaction.
  • Build calm, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support emotional regulation using approved strategies.
  • Collaborate with teaching, residential and therapy teams throughout the day.

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated Care Workers to join a specialist residential school in the Andover area that supports children and young people with additional needs. This long-term role begins in September 2026, with the genuine opportunity to become a permanent member of the team for the right person.

The school supports students with a range of complex needs including autism, communication differences, ADHD, social/emotional needs and mild-to-moderate learning difficulties. Many pupils follow personalised programmes designed to help them develop independence, emotional regulation, communication, and essential life skills.

This role is non-personal care and focuses on providing consistent daily support, helping young people feel safe, understood, and empowered. You will work within a therapeutic, structured environment that enables students to thrive socially, academically, and emotionally.

You'll collaborate closely with teachers, residential/key workers, therapists, and senior staff to deliver high‑quality, student‑centred care throughout the school day.

Individual Profile

  • GCSE Maths & English (A-C) desirable
  • Experience working with additional needs (desirable but not essential)

  • Confident supporting young people with emotional or behavioural needs
  • First Aid trained or willing to train
  • Access to your own car and a clean driving licence is essential due to the rural location
