Care & Support Worker

Various locations within Dumfries & Galloway

Salary: £17,360.29 - £18,485.25

Supporting you to live your life.

We are an aging population with people living longer, leading to an increased number of older individuals in our communities who require support and practical help to stay safely and independently in their own homes.

This rewarding opportunity involves working with individuals (predominantly over the age of 65) to provide personalized support in their own homes while encouraging them to build upon their abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting with personal care.
  2. Assisting with medication.
  3. Preparation and cooking of meals.
  4. Engaging in any other activities appropriate to individual needs.

If you are caring, friendly, positive, and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision, this could be a very rewarding role for you. We provide more than just a job; we offer fantastic training, guaranteed hours, a pension scheme, and ongoing support and learning. Flexibility is essential.

Contracts currently available are for 24.5 hours per week on a fixed rotational pattern.

A current full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle are essential. However, if you have a disability that precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

An SVQ level 2 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential initially as full training will be provided. However, you will be required to complete this.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to the formal offer of employment by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have resided outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
