Job description

Care and Support Worker at Candlelight Care (Sponsorship Switch)

Are you a compassionate and dedicated care professional looking to continue your career in the UK? Candlelight Care is seeking experienced Care and Support Workers to join our team. If you have a passion for helping others and at least two years of experience in a care setting—whether in domiciliary care, a care home, or a hospital—we want to hear from you!

To be eligible for this role, you must already be in the UK on a Skilled Worker Visa with another sponsor and be willing to transfer your sponsorship to us. In return, we offer a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in people’s lives, providing high-quality care and support tailored to individual needs.

Join Candlelight Care today and be part of a team that values empathy, respect, and a genuine commitment to improving the well-being of others. Apply now.

About Candlelight Care

Candlelight Care is a family-owned provider of high-quality homecare services across Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, and East Sussex. Established over 30 years ago, the company is founded on the values of equality, trust, dignity, and respect—principles that continue to shape its commitment to delivering compassionate, dependable, and responsive care to individuals of all ages in their own homes.

Their skilled and dedicated care teams offer a wide range of support, including help with daily activities, personal care, and specialized assistance for ongoing needs. Through their Candlelight24 service, they also provide live-in care as an alternative to residential care, ensuring each client receives personalized support tailored to their specific requirements.

Position: Care and Support Worker

Salary: £23,200 a year

Job Type: Full Time

Location: Gillingham, Sherborne, Dorset, Wincanton, Somerset

About the Role

Please note this role is only for a UK-based individual currently on a skilled worker/healthcare visa, looking to switch their sponsorship to another domiciliary care company. You must already have your own accommodation local to the vacancy, a full English driving license (unless you have been in the UK less than 12 months, then you should have your own country’s license) as well having care experience and confidence in driving in the UK.

Candlelight Care are now able to offer Sponsorship switches on a limited basis, in the following area(s): Sherborne, Dorset / Wincanton, Somerset / Gillingham, Dorset.

Every day is different when you work in Health and Social Care; however, you should expect to get to know your clients and their interests and needs. Give emotional and practical support, assist with personal care (washing, toileting, dressing), domestic household tasks, and food preparation, all tailored to each individual’s needs.

You will also be assisting with medication, use of mobility aids and personal equipment where required, and have a responsibility to report to the Registered Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a client.

At Candlelight Care, we believe in encouraging and enabling our clients to remain as independent as possible whilst acting in their best interests and protecting and safeguarding their wellbeing.

  • Guaranteed Hours 37.5 per week (to reassure you that you will have a constant regular wage).
  • Minimum annual salary of £23,200.
  • Mixed shifts (mornings and/or evenings) plus every weekend, with two days off in the week.
  • Fully paid induction training and ongoing training provided throughout your sponsorship.
  • Uniform and work mobile provided.
  • Blue Light Discount Card
  • Annual Awards Ceremony
  • Employee Assistance Programme – offering support and advice to all our team when they need it most.
  • Workplace Pension (subject to conditions)
  • Opportunity to study for Diploma in Health and Social Care.
  • A rewarding role, making a difference to our clients' lives every day.
  • Exceptional support from our management and senior staff.
Qualifications
  • We are looking for someone who has at least two years of working in a care-based role, be this in a domiciliary field, a care home, or a hospital setting. This experience doesn’t need to be within the UK.
  • To be considered for this role, you will need to already be in the UK and on Sponsorship with another provider and be willing to switch your sponsorship over to us.
  • You will also be required to have a driver’s license and access to your own vehicle and have a willingness to relocate to the Wimborne area. It would be especially beneficial if you are currently located in Wimborne or the surrounding areas.
  • An ideal candidate will have good people skills and be a warm and empathetic person, with a genuine passion for improving the lives of others around them.

If this sounds appealing to you, and you fancy joining a company that has been caring for people of all ages in their own homes for over 35 years, as well as being recognised as a Top 20 Recommended Home Care Group in the UK for 2024 by homecare.co.uk, what are you waiting for?
