Here at Coleg Cambria we are looking for a Care and Independence Support Worker to join our Learning Support team. This particular role will be based at our YaleCampus.


Overview of Role
Reporting to the Additional Learning Needs Support Coordinator (ALNSCo), the Care and Independence Support Worker will provide personal care and one to one support to students with a wide range of needs and disabilities. Using a person centred approach and in the least intrusive way, you will undertake tasks detailed in the students’ care and support plan whilst maintaining good communication and developing effective working relationships. Providing regular feedback to the ALNSCo, you will assist students taking medication at the agreed level of support and maintain accurate records in respect of care and medication given.

You will assist students to dress and undress, with toileting, continence management and personal hygiene and help with preparation of food and drink; being aware of the students’ choice, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements. You will also be required to support the student to access learning by acting as a reader, scribe and notetake when necessary. Those who hold a First Aid at Work, Manual Handling and Administering Medication qualification, will be of distinct advantage, however this is not essential.

NVQ Level 2 in Care

Experience in Manual Handling and providing high standards of care provision
