Job overview
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate expert research nursing care and provide support to patients attending the Department who have been or
have the potential to be recruited onto a clinical trial programme. The Research Nurse will play a key role in ensuring that any research
undertaken within the department safeguards the well being of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006. In conjunction with the other members of the team, facilitate the production of good quality of research.
Main duties of the job
The research nurse will facilitate and aid in the recruitment of patients to ensure high quality clinical studies and trials which will require the nurse
to work flexibly across the disciplines to ensure the successful working of the clinical research projects they are assigned to. They will also act as
a patient advocate providing support and assistance as required and assist in the co-ordination and management of a portfolio of clinical research
studies.

The post holder will work within a team of Cardiac, Vascular and Clinical Pharmacology research nurses.
Key relationships include; Modern Matron for Research, Clinical
Research Facility Nurse Manager, Consultants and Junior Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Allied Health Professionals,
Administrative and Clerical Support Staff, Professional and Technical staff. Staff within non commercial bodies and Pharmaceutical companies
and/or sponsors.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are seeking two dedicated and experienced Research Nurses to join our clinical research team specialising in cardiac, vascular, and clinical pharmacology studies. The ideal candidates will play a key role in managing and delivering high-quality clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing excellent patient care.
The roles involve patient recruitment, data collection, administration of study protocols, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Experience in cardiovascular or pharmacology research and strong clinical skills are desirable.
The post holders will be expected to work within the 3 specialities crossing over between Cardiac or Vascular departments and the Clinical Research Facility at St. Thomas’s Hospital.
The two vacancies available are for one B6 permanent staff and 1-year secondment for maternity cover – please state in your personal statement if you are willing to accept either the permanent or the secondment position.
