Job summary

The 22-bedded ward, opened in December 2012, consists of 4 regular side rooms, a male and a female 4-bedded bays, and 10 negative pressure side rooms.

We are seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our friendly nursing team in this challenging and rewarding environment.

13F Ward offers: A well-organized team committed to providing safe and compassionate care, opportunities to nurse a variety of specialist conditions, and relevant professional development including in-house training.

Key Skills/Qualifications
  • At least 6 months recent acute ward experience.
Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality, individualized, and holistic patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Supervise and teach junior staff and learners, maintaining personal development. Ensure accurate documentation and evaluate patient care, taking appropriate actions for deteriorating patients, and utilize electronic health records effectively. Demonstrate an enquiring approach to patient care and be aware of issues related to HIV, Infection, Immunity, and Respiratory conditions in both inpatients and outpatients.

Job responsibilities

Participate actively in patient care, develop essential competencies, and ensure safety and quality standards. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, identifying deteriorating patients and taking necessary actions. Maintain accurate electronic health records, demonstrate awareness of issues affecting HIV, Infection, Immunity, and Respiratory patients, and develop skills such as cannulation and phlebotomy. Educate patients and families about health promotion, participate in multidisciplinary decision-making, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Follow legal and organizational policies, participate in research and quality initiatives, and develop personal and professional skills through appraisal and training. Ensure confidentiality, safety, and security, and contribute to the ward’s philosophy and shared governance.
