Job summary

xpate is seeking a Card Scheme Operations Specialist to liaison between xpate and card schemes, ensuring compliance with Visa and Mastercard rules across our card business. You will monitor bulletins, coordinate responses, maintain documentation, and support scheme integrations.

You will collaborate with Product, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Risk, and Engineering to implement changes and improve processes within a dynamic fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on experience with Visa and/or Mastercard schemes.
• Practical knowledge of scheme rules and operating regulations.
• Experience with scheme procedures: mandate implementation, reporting, compliance programs.
• Experience with Visa Online, Mastercard Connect, or other scheme portals.
• Experience with scheme integrations: certifications, testing, onboarding to new scheme services.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit mandatory reports to Visa and Mastercard, including compliance and PCI DSS.
• Coordinate responses to requests, inquiries and investigations from card schemes.
• Maintain internal registers and documentation, keeping information up to date.
• Own and maintain internal knowledge bases and Confluence pages.
• Support internal teams with scheme-related guidance and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Risk, and Engineering to align with requirements.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives.

Job description

As a Card Scheme Operations Specialist, you will be the key liaison between xpate and the card schemes, supporting operational, compliance and reporting activities across our card business. You will monitor scheme requirements, coordinate responses to network requests, maintain critical internal documentation and make sure the organization stays informed and compliant with evolving Visa and Mastercard rules.

Your role at xpate:

• Monitor and interpret Visa and Mastercard bulletins, mandates, rule changes and operational updates.
• Assess the impact of scheme changes and coordinate implementation with relevant internal stakeholders.
• Support scheme integrations and changes, including certifications, testing and new scheme programs or services.
• Prepare and submit mandatory reports to Visa and Mastercard, including compliance, PCI DSS, quarterly and other scheme-related reporting.
• Coordinate and manage responses to requests, inquiries and investigations from card schemes.
• Maintain internal registers, trackers, and operational records, keeping information accurate and up to date.
• Own and maintain internal knowledge bases and documentation, including Confluence pages and process documentation.
• Support internal teams with scheme-related guidance and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Risk, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment with scheme requirements.
• Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives within the card business.

We’re ready to meet you, if…

• 1+ years of hands-on experience working directly with Visa and/or Mastercard schemes (at an acquirer, issuer, processor, PSP, or the schemes themselves).
• Practical knowledge of scheme rules and operating regulations, and experience applying them in day-to-day work.
• Experience with scheme procedures, such as mandate implementation, scheme reporting, compliance programs, and handling scheme inquiries or investigations.
• Experience with Visa Online, Mastercard Connect, or other scheme portals and tools.
• Experience with scheme integrations, such as certifications, testing, onboarding to new scheme services, or implementing technical and operational scheme changes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and interpret complex operational matters.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PCI DSS and scheme compliance programs (e.g. fraud and chargeback monitoring).
• Background in a fintech, payments, or regulated financial services environment.
