Job Description: Carbon Accounting Consultant - UK based

The Carbon Accounting Consultant will be responsible for delivering Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon accounting services and supporting external customers. The role involves working with internal and external stakeholders to scope and deliver tailored carbon reporting services and regulatory support, helping clients meet obligations under government legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internal sustainability objectives.

Key responsibilities include managing customer relationships, understanding complex carbon reporting requirements, and delivering against objectives. Workstreams will require familiarity with energy data acquisition, data analysis, carbon accounting, global legislation, and presentation skills.

World Kinect (WK) provides energy management and sustainability services to various sectors using proprietary technology and a multinational team of experts. Our services include comprehensive energy solutions to reduce costs and meet carbon footprint goals.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support clients with their Carbon Accounting journey via our centralized platform.
  2. Provide expertise on energy and carbon legislative and reporting requirements such as SECR, CSRD, UK ETS, CCA’s, and CHPQA.
  3. Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices in carbon accounting and compliance.
  4. Utilize data analytics to inform client strategies and decarbonization projects.
  5. Assist in planning, assembling, and validating energy and carbon data for compliance and reporting.
  6. Prepare and present formal performance reports to clients.
  7. Conduct internal audits of data and compliance activities.
  8. Support Service Delivery and Commercial teams as a Subject Matter Expert.
  9. Manage delivery of workstreams and customer expectations.
  10. Enhance practical knowledge of our carbon accounting platform.
  11. Collaborate with stakeholders such as Global Data Management, Product, and IT to troubleshoot and improve the customer journey.
Person Specification:
  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in carbon accounting and management.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
  3. Knowledge of global carbon reporting standards and regulations.
  4. Strong understanding of carbon accounting methodologies.
  5. Experience working directly with clients on complex carbon issues.
  6. Experience with UK compliance reporting such as SECR and voluntary schemes.
  7. Familiarity with international frameworks like CDP, GRI, SBTI is advantageous.
  8. Excellent numeracy and advanced Excel skills.
  9. Strong communication skills in English.
  10. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Ability to build relationships and manage projects effectively.
  12. Enjoy engaging with customers and possess strong social skills.
