Job Description: Carbon Accounting Consultant - UK based

The Carbon Accounting Consultant will be responsible for delivering Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon accounting services and supporting external customers.

The role involves working with internal and external stakeholders to scope and deliver tailored carbon reporting services and regulatory support, assisting clients with obligations under government legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internal energy and carbon emissions reduction objectives.

Key tasks include ownership of customer accounts, understanding complex carbon reporting requirements, scoping service provision, and delivering against objectives. Workstreams will require familiarity with energy data acquisition, data analysis, carbon accounting, global legislation, frameworks, and presentation skills.

World Kinect (WK) provides energy management and sustainability services to various clients, using a multinational team and proprietary technology to reduce energy spend and meet carbon footprint goals.

Responsibilities
  • Own client accounts, supporting their carbon accounting journey through our platform.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on energy and carbon legislative and reporting requirements such as SECR, CSRD, UK ETS, CCA’s, and CHPQA.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices in carbon accounting and compliance.
  • Focus on data analytics to support client decarbonization strategies.
  • Assist clients in planning, assembling, and validating energy and carbon data for compliance and reporting.
  • Prepare and present formal performance reports to clients.
  • Conduct internal audits of data and compliance, supporting assurance activities.
  • Support Service Delivery and Commercial teams as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Manage workstreams and customer expectations.
  • Enhance practical knowledge of our carbon accounting platform.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders like Global Data Management, Product, and IT to troubleshoot challenges and implement improvements.
Person Specification (Background and Skills)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in carbon accounting and management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of global carbon reporting standards and regulations.
  • Understanding of carbon accounting methodologies.
  • Customer-facing experience with complex carbon concepts.
  • Experience with UK SECR and voluntary schemes compliance reporting.
  • Familiarity with international frameworks like CDP, GRI, SBTI is advantageous.
  • Strong numeracy and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Relationship-building and client management skills.
  • Enjoy engaging with customers and possess strong social skills.
