Job description

What is Sylvera anyway?

Sylvera provides trusted ratings, tools, and data for carbon credits and CDR. Our mission is to incentivize investment in real climate action.

Purchasing carbon credits and CDR through the carbon markets is one of the most established and scalable ways to channel finance to effective climate solutions and work toward societal net zero. Unfortunately, the carbon markets have been plagued with mistrust and a lack of effectiveness since their emergence—until Sylvera.

To help organizations ensure they're making the most effective investments, Sylvera offers trusted ratings, tools, and data for carbon credits and CDR. Our data and software independently and accurately validate the impact of carbon projects that capture, remove, or avoid emissions, whether they are operational or in development. Our data and tools enable users to optimize both the climate and economic performance of projects, as well as understand the past and future of the market. With Sylvera, businesses, governments, and developers can confidently invest in, benchmark, deliver, and report real climate impact.

Our team comprises leading minds in climate change, including scientists, policy experts, finance specialists, and carbon market professionals. We collaborate with scientific organizations, universities, governments, and think tanks to develop rigorous and holistic project assessment methodologies, leveraging the latest technology. We also partner with market actors and institutions to improve data quality, standardization, and accessibility. Founded in 2020, Sylvera has over 130 employees globally, with offices in London, New York, Belgrade, and Singapore. We have raised over $96 million from investors like Fidelity, Balderton Capital, Index Ventures, and Insight Partners.

What will I be doing?

Having established early product-market fit in a rapidly growing space, we are scaling our Ratings Team to support our carbon data platform. We are seeking a mission-driven analyst to conduct carbon project assessments and help develop our expert assessment frameworks, ensuring our work is based on robust and comprehensive data and analysis. This is a critical role within our business — you will work within a multidisciplinary team of analysts, leveraging diverse skills and insights to create value for our customers. You will report to our Head of Ratings.

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting carbon project assessments, providing deep due diligence on projects to deliver value through timely, robust data and insights.
  • Contributing to process improvements and designing systems and tools to enhance assessment speed and quality.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across technology, product, commercial, and data teams.
  • Upholding quality assurance processes to maintain our reputation as the most trusted data provider in the market.
  • Promoting best practices within the team, keeping customer value at the forefront.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative research, including reviewing project documentation, scientific literature, news reports, modeling formulas, time series data, and geospatial data.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is based in London (this role is on-site, with five days a week in our London office).
  • Possesses deep critical thinking skills and the ability to apply logical principles to solve complex problems.
  • Has experience delivering data insights and innovating analytics.
  • Has knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques and proficiency with tools like Sheets, GIS software, SQL, and Python.
  • Has excellent English written communication and collaboration skills.
  • Is a fast learner, self-starter, curious, and comfortable in a technical environment.
  • Has basic knowledge of carbon offsets or markets, gained through academic or professional experience.
  • Takes initiative, manages time well, and adapts easily to change, especially under deadlines.
  • Thrives in evolving environments, ideally with early-stage experience.
  • Cares deeply about the climate and ecosystems.

We value highly ambitious, motivated individuals eager to advance their careers. We prioritize grit, positivity, and a proactive attitude, and encourage applications even if your experience doesn't perfectly match this description.

Benefits
