Every individual plays their part. No stone is left unturned in the chase for every tenth of a second. The history of our sport is long and rich, and we are continuing our journey with renewed effort year on year.

About The Role:

We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team as an Electronics Apprentice to work within the fast-paced environment of our Electronics Wiring Department within Car Build. The role will incorporate the efficient and effective use of a wide variety of electronics wiring and assembly practices and processes to deliver these products on time and to the right level of quality.

Reporting to a senior member of our build team, your apprenticeship will provide periods of integration across the different areas of our car build team, and you will be mentored by the subject matter expert for each of these. You will learn the theory and practical skills to support the existing Electronics Manufacturing Team in their day-to-day commitments and become an important and effective part of this manufacturing process. This role should not be seen as a conventional job; the expectation on you is to make yourself a valuable part of our team, someone with the drive to develop themselves and win at the highest level of motorsport. Due to the nature of our industry, some weekend working will be required as part of the role.

Key Skills to be Developed:
  • Learn and become proficient in all types of Electronics assembly including wiring, rack and panel, enclosure and PCB.
  • Proficient use of all the manual machines within the department to produce components/parts.
  • The ability to solder, crimp and operate visual inspection equipment to produce components/parts.
  • Understand different manufacturing techniques and their impact within the Electronics manufacturing group environment.
  • Understanding and applying test and inspection processes and procedures.
  • Gaining hands-on experience with CIRRIS testing and other relevant inspection techniques.
  • Developing the ability to identify and resolve quality control issues.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and to understand component specification and tolerance intent.
  • Safe working to within general Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines with specific attention and working to Departmental Risk Assessments and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Enthusiastic & willing to learn.
  • Punctual time keeping.
  • Reliable & flexible.
  • A strong, positive work ethic with a ‘can do, team focussed’ approach.
  • Belief in self-responsibility & continuous improvement.
  • An enquiring mind with a real what, why and how attitude.
  • Computer literate & able to learn new software quickly.
  • Strong interest in mechanical assemblies.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a solid analytical approach.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Confident in using hand tools and have a real hands-on approach.
Our Level 3 apprenticeships require the following:
  • You must have an existing and valid right to work for the duration of the apprenticeship in the UK. Applicants who require a visa to work in the UK should be aware that our apprenticeships are ineligible for sponsorship.
  • Availability to complete the level 3 apprenticeship up to a 42 month duration.
  • Evidence of having been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to taking up the apprenticeship in September this year or candidates who qualify for an exemption as stated here: Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK.
  • At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with results of 5 and above. Please note that three of the GCSEs must be Maths, Science and English.
  • We will check you meet the criteria as part of the application process as this will need to be evidenced before you can start the programme.
