Job summary

Student Loans Company is seeking a Technical and Capital Accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls and governance within a public sector context. The role requires CCAB-qualified expertise and a pragmatic, collaborative approach.

The position offers a hybrid working pattern, with time split between the office and home, and a focus on statutory accounts, year-end reporting and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• CCAB (or equivalent) qualified accountant, or part-qualified with significant accounting experience.
• Experience supporting statutory reporting, audit and compliance activities.
• Experience engaging with stakeholders to support financial reporting, decision-making and reporting requirements.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards.
• Excellent communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong IT skills with Excel and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts and year-end reporting with robust controls.
• Support external audit activities and governance processes.
• Advise on capitalisation and accounting treatments across projects.
• Maintain strong financial controls and evidence to support reporting.
• Engage with stakeholders to facilitate financial reporting decisions.
