Job Title: Capital Solutions

Corporate Title: Associate Director

Location: London

Barings' Capital Solutions Group is seeking a candidate with 4 - 7 years of professional work experience for an Associate Director position in their Global Capital Solutions team in London.

The selected candidate will be responsible for analysing and evaluating primary and secondary investment opportunities and tracking portfolio companies for dedicated investment strategies. The position reports to Tom Kilpatrick, who heads the Capital Solutions team in Europe.

The team sources European investment opportunities across a spectrum of risk/return profiles. Through its separate managed accounts and commingled funds, the team provides various lending solutions: senior secured loans, second lien, unitranche, mezzanine debt, and equity co-investments in private and public markets. Investment professionals originate and underwrite deals they invest in and can create highly customized portfolios to meet investor needs.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Originate, perform analysis and due diligence, and present new investment ideas
  • Conduct fundamental investment analysis without bias to industry or sector
  • Conduct financial statement analysis and detailed financial modelling
  • Meet with management teams, develop industry contacts, and utilize other sources to develop investment theses
  • Produce clear and concise research based on independent observation and analysis
  • Manage a portfolio of assets and assist with quarterly reporting
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, presentations, and initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in sub-investment grade credit, preferably in alternative credit, special situations, or distressed scenarios
  • Alternatively, ACA or CA qualification with experience in Transaction Advisory or Corporate Restructuring at Big 4 firms
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex situations and generate investment ideas

  • Attention to detail and commitment to tasks
  • Self-motivated individual capable of managing deals independently
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Bloomberg
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
