  • Salary: £49,282 - £53,460 per annum, Band 9
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent

We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Housing Investment Team as a Capital Projects Surveyor.

About the role

You will:

  • be responsible for ensuring statutory obligations relating to safety in our existing homes is fully complied with

  • manage a programme of risk assessments, routine inspections, surveys and the resulting project works that ensures our residents feel safe and are safe in their homes

  • ensure residents are provided relevant information in a timely and transparent manner relating to compliance and improvements of their home

  • establish a collaborative and trusted relationship with regulatory bodies such as Health and Safety Executive and DLUC in promoting statutory compliance or guidance advice and best practice.

What you will need:

You will have current knowledge of Decent Homes and HHSRS and an extensive knowledge and understanding of Retrofit and implementation to social housing. Current knowledge of UK building and safety legislation relating to dwellings is essential as well as contract administration using JCT or similar forms of building contracts.

You will have a relevant qualification in Building Surveying or Contract Management - or willing to complete a level 5 or above qualification and be working towards or achieved membership of chartered body i.e. RICS, MCIOB etc. A commitment to own development and to supporting training and development initiatives is essential.
