Capital and Contracts Lead – Local Government

Interim contract – West Berkshire area

3 month rolling

Salt Recruitment are supporting a Local Government organisation in the West Berkshire area to appoint an interim Capital and Contracts Lead. This role will provide oversight of capital programmes and contract management, with a strong focus on school estates and wider accommodation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a small team delivering the Schools Capital Programme (new builds, refurbishments, condition improvements).
• Work with departments on capital improvement programmes, particularly around accommodation with care and support.
• Audit and review contracts, ensuring compliance and effective supplier management.
• Advise on technical specifications for major repairs and capital works.
• Provide programme management and internal sign-offs for business cases.
• Support schools with the delivery of the condition improvement programme.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience delivering capital programmes and contract management within Local Government.
• Knowledge of school estates, refurbishment projects, and accommodation improvements.
• Strong programme and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to advise on technical works and specifications.

Contract Details

• £562.52 per day, Inside IR35.
• Interim assignment, West Berkshire area.

Only candidates with Local Government capital programme experience will be considered.
