The role: Actuarial Analyst
- We are hiring an Actuarial Analyst to join the Capital Advisory team in London (City).
- You will collaborate with senior leaders in Capital Advisory and the broader Gallagher Re team to support the origination and execution of third-party capital transactions.
- You will apply expertise in reinsurance and capital modelling to provide client service and contribute to growth targets.
- This role requires a highly analytical and motivated individual with curiosity to learn.
- You will lead in developing and implementing models used for pricing, reserving and assessing risk capital of client portfolios.
- We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, capable of leading meetings and devising solutions.
How you'll make an impact
The role holder will support senior colleagues with the origination and execution of strategic alternative capital transactions, including sidecars, collateralised reinsurance, and Lloyd's capital. The role is suited to an ambitious professional seeking to apply technical grounding in a front-office commercial role and to develop professionally.
Your responsibilities
- Interact with senior team members and client management to execute transactions
- Support financial analysis and structuring for major alternative capital transactions, including reserve, capital assessment and financial models
- Project management with clients and investors
- Prepare presentation materials for client and investor discussions
- Develop analytical toolkit supporting client solutions, including pricing, capital & structure optimisation and visualization tools
- Use market financial data to derive insights and drive origination of opportunities
- Engage with the investor community to develop client solutions
- Contribute content to pitch books and origination activities as needed
About you
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Part-qualified actuary or equivalent (study support provided)
- Minimum 2 years in the (re)insurance industry, ideally from an advisory or consultancy background, though not mandatory
- Experience in one or more areas: (re)insurance pricing; capital modelling under Solvency II or other risk-based regimes; understanding of insurance company financials under IFRS and GAAP
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to client relationships
- Ability to present model outputs, limitations and assumptions clearly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Great attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint)
