Job Description

CK Group is recruiting for a Capillary Electrophoresis QC Scientist on behalf of a medical diagnostic company. This role is based at their site in Gateshead and is a permanent position with Monday to Friday daytime hours.

The Role

The main responsibilities include testing the quality control and assay of product lines, ensuring products are assayed and quality control tested timely according to protocols and under the guidance of the QC Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scientific tasks following protocols to assay and quality control products from the V8 and UltraCE ranges.
  • Organize daily work, prioritize tasks based on urgency to meet target turnaround times.
  • Review and update V8 and UltraCE assay and QC specifications to ensure they are current and appropriate.
  • Ensure EQA scheme data is completed within required timeframes, with reports reviewed and stored properly.
  • Develop knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting within the department.
  • Apply electrophoresis knowledge to support routine assays, QC, external quality assurance, and R&D activities.
  • Identify product performance issues, communicate findings, and track investigations.
  • Participate in cross-departmental non-conformance meetings.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Managing Director.
Essential Skills
  • BSc in life sciences with 1-2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Good laboratory practices and a strong background in life sciences.
  • Interest and knowledge in electrophoresis techniques.
  • Proficient in internet use, Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical software.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Legal entitlement to work in the UK is essential.
