Job description

The Capacity, Data & Insight Manager is a unique and exciting role situated centrally within the Operations Data, Capacity & Insight function. The role offers exposure to senior leaders across the organization and influences the development of the function, providing leadership and shaping strategy from a holistic perspective.

Previous experience within the water industry is not essential but highly desirable.

In a fast-paced environment, this role involves overcoming new challenges daily. The success of this function depends on thought leadership and engagement, with this role helping to shape these efforts, including supporting key turnaround activities across Operations and Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as a Capacity, Data & Insight Manager
  • Lead, manage, and coach a team of around 16 managers and analysts, including performance management and talent development.
  • Embed the team into business-as-usual operations.
  • Drive demand & capacity planning and data insight functions as a center of excellence.
  • Shape and influence the functional strategy.
  • Coordinate forecasting and capacity planning models.
  • Manage maintenance reporting for Above Ground.
  • Contribute to the financial annual budget cycles.
  • Collaborate with field and office teams to ensure data accuracy and resource alignment.
  • Promote data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and data quality across the service center.
What you should bring to the role
  • Experience in a similar role focusing on data services or business improvements in an operational or central services environment.
  • Background in operational planning, capacity planning, or data & insight is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to self-manage and proactively approach tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in managing teams and making data-based recommendations.
  • Resilience and credibility in stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience influencing senior colleagues and understanding their needs.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience in water, manufacturing, telecommunications, or utilities industries is preferred.

This hybrid role is based at Kemble Court, requiring presence every Tuesday and additional days as needed. Travel is limited to occasional meetings at other Thames Water sites.
