About the role
We are hiring a Cook/Canteen Assistant for our colleague canteen. Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, and serving meals to colleagues.
You will report to the Senior Canteen Assistant. Other duties include handling money, cleaning, stock rotation, vending machine management, and other related tasks.
Hours of work: 25 hours, PM shift 16:00 - 21:00, any 5 days from 7, including weekends. Flexibility for holiday and absence cover is required.
Responsibilities
- Ordering stock for food preparation and vending machines
- Supporting stock management and control
- Checking stock quality and codes
- Preparing food according to hygiene standards
- Replenishing and managing vending machines (price changes, cleaning, cash collection)
- Providing hospitality support
- Maintaining cleanliness in the canteen, kitchen, dining area, and counters
- Following food hygiene, HACCP, Allergens, and COSHH guidelines
- Monitoring temperature controls and expiry dates
Requirements
The ideal candidate has a positive attitude towards customer service, is friendly and outgoing, and works well in a team.
Experience in cooking is essential, with a willingness to assist across all kitchen and food service areas.
The candidate must adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and hold a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
