Job overview

The post holder will report directly to the Lead Cancer Nurse and work closely with the Trust Cancer Clinical Director, Director of Clinical Services, Deputy Director of Elective Care, and Cancer Manager. They will contribute to the development and enhancement of trust-wide cancer services.

The role involves leading specific initiatives within a complex agenda aimed at improving efficiency and quality for cancer patients across divisions. The post promotes quality, innovation, efficiency, productivity, and performance improvements to enhance patient care and outcomes.

The post holder will collaborate internally and externally, utilizing their experience to operate at a senior level to help OUHFT achieve excellence and compassionate care.

Main duties of the job
  • Support the Lead Cancer Nurse in managing the Cancer Specialist Nursing teams.
  • Act as deputy in the absence of the Lead Cancer Nurse.
  • Maintain visibility, accessibility, and approachability to ensure open communication and effective care assessments.
  • Provide professional leadership to cancer nursing teams.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of cancer services, aligning with the Trust’s values and responding to local and national policies, providing expert advice on service development.
