Job summary

Hopwood Hall College in Middleton is seeking a vigilant security and safeguarding officer to keep learners and staff safe. You will patrol campuses, assist with enrolment, and support the Safeguarding team by reviewing CCTV and handling incidents with discretion.

The role requires empathy with young people, robust behaviour management, and the ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends. Prior experience in education or community settings is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills (minimum level 2).
• Driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance.
• Able to work flexibly including evenings and weekends.
• Experience working with young people in educational or community settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling common areas to promote positive behaviour and report incidents in line with college values.
• Support safeguarding team by reviewing CCTV footage and completing incident forms as required.
• Maintain health, safety and welfare of staff, learners, visitors and premises, including parking and access control.
• Provide customer service to staff, students and visitors, assist with enrolment and directing queries.
• Ensure staff and students display ID badges and monitor for unauthorised visitors; liaise with emergency services if needed.
