Job Description Summary

The Campus Police dispatcher serves as a non-sworn member of the Campus Police department. Responsibilities include answering emergency and business-related calls, operating radio communications, monitoring security systems, data entry, processing parking permits, assisting with card access systems, and welcoming visitors. Additional duties involve supporting campus patrol staff with public safety services.

Entry-level candidates interested in law enforcement careers are encouraged to apply.

Compensation ranges from $40,000 to $49,920 annually, based on experience. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, health/dental/vision coverage, retirement matching, insurance, tuition assistance, fitness center access, wellness resources, flexible hours, discounts, and ERG participation.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate a multi-line telephone system.
  2. Handle emergency and routine calls, providing information and resources.
  3. Document calls and incidents using IMC software.
  4. Monitor alarms and security systems.
  5. Coordinate service requests with university partners.
  6. Provide courteous service at the police service window.
  7. Relay sensitive information to authorized personnel.
  8. Assist with parking and traffic enforcement.
  9. Deliver community safety services and promote positive campus relations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an oral interview and background check.
  • Good moral character and suitability for public safety roles.
  • Dependability, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under stress.
  • Proficiency with campus police software.
  • Ability to pass NCIC/LEAPS/CJIS and Clery training.
  • Availability to work all hours and in various weather conditions.
  • Maintain professionalism under stress.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of dispatch and field training programs.
