Job summary

American Express is seeking an Analyst within Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SS&BE) to support the most effective strategy for delivering value from our supply base. You’ll assist with sourcing, contracting, spend profiling, benchmarking, and presenting dashboards for internal stakeholders and suppliers.

You’ll work under UK managers to drive cost savings, manage contracts, and help ensure governance and risk controls across multiple categories in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program.
  • Candidates with an expected graduation date in 2028.
  • Commercial acumen, with strong problem-solving skills and an analytical approach.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and a team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to drive results and prioritise work activities.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to one of the UK Managers, you’ll be accountable for cost-effective procurement and contract execution for a wide range of products and services.
  • Implement contracting strategies including development and execution of sourcing activities (RFI/RFP).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to identify opportunities to drive cost savings across the category.
  • Drive value and competitive advantage to business partners through effective supplier negotiations.
  • Review supplier risk and work with Third Party Risk Management to support governance.
  • Manage contract execution in line with policies, standards, and processes.
  • Drive cross-functional results impacting American Express revenue and profitability.
  • Support Governance Teams to stay aligned with changing legal and regulatory requirements and contract compliance.

About The Role

As an Analyst within Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SS&BE) at American Express, you’ll support the delivery of the most effective strategy for achieving maximum value for American Express with our supply base, through the sourcing and contracting process. You will also support procurement managers to develop global category management plans to meet business objectives, understand spend profiles, leverage and complete industry benchmarking and prepare presentations and dashboards for internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to one of the UK Managers, you’ll be accountable for the cost-effective procurement of, and contract execution for, a wide range of products and services - whilst achieving or exceeding business requirements.
  • Implement contracting strategies including the development and execution of sourcing activities (Request for Information, Request for Proposal).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to identify opportunities where we can drive cost saves across the category.
  • Drive value and competitive advantage to our business partners through effective supplier negotiations.
  • Review and identify supplier risk, working with Third Party Risk Management teams and business stakeholders to support strong supplier governance.
  • Manage the execution of contracts in line with required policies, standards, and processes.
  • Drive results cross-functionally, and across business units, that have a major impact on American Express’ revenue and profitability.
  • Work closely with Governance Teams and support projects that enables the team to remain aligned with changing legal and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring policy and contract compliance in all contracting projects.
