Job summary

Cadbury College is seeking a practical and enthusiastic Grounds Keeper to maintain and enhance our campus grounds, ensuring safe, tidy outdoor spaces and a welcoming environment for students and staff.

The role is based primarily at Cadbury College with responsibilities spanning outdoor grounds, indoor plant care, and support for examinations and college events. A current driving licence and ability to work in all weather conditions are essential; occasional travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Practical groundskeeping or gardening experience.
• Current full driving licence.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to plan and prioritise grounds maintenance tasks.
• Understanding of health and safety when working outdoors and using tools.
• Ability to lead on winter maintenance (gritting and cycle routes).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work around visiting groups, including children and students with SEN.

Responsibilities

• Undertake practical groundskeeping and horticultural duties (weed control, grass maintenance, seasonal planting).
• Monitor outsourced grass-cutting contractor and suggest layout/presentation improvements within budgets.
• Lead external winter maintenance, including gritting and winter route clearance.
• Maintain indoor plants across college sites and look after tools/equipment.
• Support Site team with exams and college events; travel between sites; early starts may be required.
