Job summary

Global University Systems (GUS) invites applications for an Apprenticeship Assistant Manager role in London on-site. The position supports the Level 4 Facilities Manager Apprenticeship delivered by Mercury Training, with an anticipated duration of about 24 months and a fixed-term contract.

The role blends hands-on facilities duties with structured learning, covering hard and soft facilities management, health and safety, contractor coordination, and sustainability initiatives across GUS campus

Qualifications

• Eligibility to undertake Mercury Training’s Level 4 Facilities Manager Apprenticeship.
• Experience in facilities, property, estates, building services, customer service or administration.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with ability to prioritise competing demands and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Act as a first point of contact for facilities enquiries, delivering a responsive and professional service to students, colleagues and visitors.
• Support the day-to-day operation of campus buildings, including cleaning, security, reception, maintenance, waste management and other facilities services.
• Respond to reactive facilities issues, coordinating contractors and remedial works and escalating where required.
• Conduct regular building inspections and identify risks or defects with actions followed through to resolution.
• Support health, safety and compliance activities including audits, risk assessments and contractor documentation.
• Coordinate contractors and suppliers, monitoring performance, quality, safety and value for money.
