Job summary

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Campus Development Team, delivering a diverse portfolio of estate improvement projects.

Projects range from £5k to £2m in value and require leadership across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on time, in budget and to the highest quality, while minimising disruption to building users. The role supports teaching, learning, research and student experience with hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering construction projects in higher education or complex environments.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of construction project management best practices and relevant legislation.
• Currently working towards chartership is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of multiple estate development, refurbishment and infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
• Manage project scope, programme, budgets, quality, risks and governance to ensure successful outcomes.
• Develop business cases, feasibility studies and project plans to support investment decisions.
• Build and manage effective relationships with internal stakeholders, acting as the primary client representative throughout project lifecycles.
• Procure, appoint and manage consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers in line with University procedures.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and monitor contractor performance, compliance and delivery.
• Manage project budgets, cash flow and financial reporting, identifying opportunities for value and efficiency improvements.
• Support the delivery and monitoring of the Capital Programme, escalating risks and issues where required.
• Mentor and support junior project managers, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, health and safety legislation, statutory requirements and University policies.
• Prepare and present project progress updates and reports to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure successful project handover, including all relevant documentation, certification and lessons learned.
