Job description

This post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CAMHS Practitioner to join Tameside and Glossop CAMHS Service and support the Management of the DBT pathway and the CORE mental health emotional and behavioural pathway

You will also lead and manage an established community based workforce, ensuring that they support the implementation of the Thrive model of care for Children's and Young Peoples Mental Health (CYPMH). You will help ensure that CAMHS Getting More Help and Getting Risk support offers are developed and that those CYP that need help and treatment from CAMHS access it smoothly and at the earliest opportunity. You will work across all CAMHS age groups .

Main duties of the job

Provide line management and clinical supervision to the Mental Health Practitioners within the service.

Be instrumental in identifying gaps in service provision enabling these to be escalated to allow for service and system future planning across the borough.

Attend DBT consultation meetings and provide clinical input into the DBT intervention offer .

Work alongside colleagues in Social Care, Health, Education and the Police to ensure smooth transition and coordination of care for young people with an identified mental health need in the borough.

  • Experience of using training, supervision and consultation as a means of helping other professionals to support the mental health of CYP.

Person Specification
Education
  • Registered Nurse - Mental Health with NMC registration/Social worker with SW registration
  • Short courses and/or experience to post graduate diploma level
Experience
  • Highly Developed Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and National Policies in relation to children and young people.
  • Highly developed knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group
  • Knowledge and experience of working with older adolescents
  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people with learning disability
  • Evidence of Post qualifying training courses / certificates
  • Experience of screening referrals and allocating to most appropriate service.
  • Experience of managing junior colleagues
Skills
  • Ability to perform complex diagnostic assessments as an autonomous practitioner across a range of mental health conditions
  • Ability to develop packages of care based on assessed needs
  • Ability to identify and manage risk in individuals presenting with mental health needs
  • Ability to provide and receive complex sensitive or contentious information often within a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere
  • Ability to act in consultation / supervision / training capacity with professionals
  • Ability to develop liaison / links and familiarity with other professional networks
  • Ability to prioritise key tasks, and targets for intervention.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team within and beyond organisational boundaries
  • Ability to manage other staff to meet targets and objectives of the service
  • Ability to provide leadership for the service
  • Ability to work flexibly and innovatively.
  • Ability to work in situations that are often highly emotionally charged and were individuals may be antagonistic / aggressive
