Job overview

The purpose of the Single Point of Access (SPA) is to assess children and young people being referred into the CAMHS Division to determine the most appropriate service. The post requires clinical and organizational skills. You will support the operations of the Access Team to identify the right service for each young person at the right time.

You will coordinate referrals, conduct triages, face-to-face assessments, and brief interventions for children aged 0-18 and their families. The role includes managing waiting lists and participating in the duty call rota.

The SPA Clinician will work with administrative and senior staff to identify needs, manage risks, and support young people and parents during the waiting period. This involves liaising with various stakeholders, conducting screening/triage, clinical assessments, and brief interventions. The role is supported by senior colleagues, especially in risk management.

Main duties of the job
  • Coordinate daily SPA team operations, including screening referrals and allocating to clinicians.
  • Perform telephone triages, risk assessments, and brief assessments.
  • Manage waiting lists and duty rota.
  • Ensure KPI and access standards are met.
  • Complete routine outcome measures.
  • Provide psychological assessments and interventions as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and decide on treatment options based on complex data and models.
  • Offer psychological advice and guidance to other professionals.
