Are you seeking a challenge and looking to enhance your management and leadership skills within a diverse, innovative outpatient service? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager within the CAMHS National & Specialist Outpatient service. This is a part-time role, 22.5 hours per week, working Wednesday to Friday.

The successful candidate will manage daily operations to meet governance standards, requiring an organized, motivated, and committed individual to provide leadership, advice, and guidance to staff. The role involves managing business and performance systems, ensuring efficient, effective, and needs-led service delivery that is user and carer focused. Strong compassionate leadership is essential, working closely with staff, young people, and families.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage overall operations of CAMHS Tier 4 outpatient services within SLAM for children, young people, and families.
  • Ensure effective service delivery within resource constraints while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve clinical, operational, performance, and financial outcomes.
  • Lead senior clinical staff in modernisation efforts aligned with NHS national plans and local strategies.
  • Report on financial matters to the CAMHS Director, Deputy Director, ICB, NHSE, and other commissioners.
  • Model and promote positive working relationships across the Directorate and partner organizations.
  • Support education, training, teaching, and research initiatives within the service.

Maudsley Hospital (headquarters)

The CAMHS outpatient service is based at the Michael Rutter Centre, Maudsley Hospital, De Crespigny Park, off Denmark Hill, SE5 8AZ. The Trust headquarters is nearby, accessible via train and within walking distance of Ruskin Park and local amenities.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Masters-level education in management (DMS, CMS, MBA) or equivalent experience in health/social services.

Desirable:

  • Project Management qualification
  • Management training or significant management experience

Experience

  • Senior operational management of clinical teams in health or social care
  • Planning and implementing service developments and change management
  • Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels
  • Performance management of services, staff, and processes
  • Change management and workforce redesign experience

Understanding and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of contractual arrangements and SLAs with commissioners
